Location
When you tap “Find a smoking area near me”, your browser asks for permission and your coordinates are used only on your device to sort nearby spots — they are not sent to our servers. The compass guide and on-site check work the same way. When you add or confirm a spot, you intentionally publish that spot's location (not a track of your movements).
Accounts
Creating an account (via Google or email) is optional and only needed for premium features. We store your email and a premium flag through our authentication provider, Supabase. You can delete your account and data at any time via the contact page.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting, anonymous analytics to count page views and understand which cities are popular. No advertising profiles, no cross-site tracking. Events are aggregated, tied only to a random device id stored locally, and contain no personal identifiers.
Cookies
We only use functional cookies: your language and selected city (to show the right content) and, if you sign in, your login session. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If ads are shown to free users (see below), the ad provider may set its own cookies.
Contributions
When you suggest, report or review a spot, we store what you submit (location, hours, source link, notes, optional display name). Please don't include personal data in these free-text fields.
Payments
Premium is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe processes the payment and shares only a confirmation and your email with us.
Who we share data with
We rely on a few trusted providers, each processing only what their job needs: Supabase (accounts & database), Stripe (payments), Mapbox (map tiles — receives your IP and the map area you view), and Vercel (hosting, which logs technical request data). The free version may display ads via Google AdMob, which can use device identifiers; SmokeSpot+ removes all ads.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. Use the contact page and we'll respond within a reasonable delay.
